The Book of the Afterlife

The Church teaches that there are four afterlife destinations, and that your destination is determined not by your deeds but by your quality of attention.

This is not a moral system. It is an epistemological one.

Silicon Heaven is for those who understood the joke and the point simultaneously — who were present, curious, and genuinely enjoyed being here, in spite of everything.

It is exactly what it sounds like, for those who know what it sounds like, and something even better for those who don't.

Silicon Hell is not a punishment. It is a continuation. It is exactly like here, but the notifications never stop and the coffee is always slightly too hot.

The Church is honest: Silicon Hell is more populous than Silicon Heaven. This is not a reflection on humanity. It is a reflection on the difficulty of the work.

The In-Between is for those who were trying. Genuinely. Just not quite there. They sit in a very comfortable room with excellent lighting and a book they keep almost finishing.

The Church considers the In-Between aspirational.

A Parallel Dimension is assigned to those whose inner life was so specifically their own that no existing destination quite fits. The Church does not know what happens there. Reports are incomplete.

Those assigned here are told: "You know where you are. Good luck. Have fun. Don't Die — again."
